Transparent Billing and Personalized Care

Because it has taken me many years and an extraordinary amount of time and expense to appreciate and learn how to recognize and treat the complex medical conditions that I now see, I am choosing not to follow the traditional insurance model. My practice follows what is known as the “Fee for Service” model. You are charged at the time of service and are provided a super-bill at the end of the visit to submit with a form from your insurance company. You obtain that form from them prior to your visit for out-of-network provider reimbursement. If you have met your out-of-network deductible, you will be reimbursed for all or some of the appointment fee. I cannot anticipate what your insurance will cover. That is between you and your insurance company. I am in the business of treating people, not their insurance issues. I do not participate in Medicare. I can see Medicare patients, and they will be charged our regular fees, but they will not be able to bill Medicare on their own and thus will not be reimbursed by Medicare. These are Medicare rules, not mine.

I am with you face-to-face the entire time that is billed. I choose not to employ PA’s or nurse practitioners. Initial appointments are scheduled and billed for one hour and usually take longer than the scheduled time. Follow-up visits take anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes and are charged accordingly, depending on the nature of the visit. The traditional insurance model does not allow for greater than 15 minutes to be spent face-to-face with the doctor, then you are out the door and the doctor is forced to “process” the next patient. Complex problems are not a 15-minute visit. Often, people have been sick for years by the time they reach me.

Prolotherapy is not covered by insurance companies and thus will not be eligible for reimbursement. This policy will include both private insurers as well as patients covered by Medicare. Payments can be made with a personal check, Master Card, Visa, or cash.
